Sinus Lifts Create Space for Additional Bone

In order to place dental implants, adequate bone density is required to hold the implant post securely. In some instances, you may not have enough bone in the upper arch below your sinuses, to support implants. This can be the cause of bone loss from periodontal disease, bone deterioration, or even large sinus membranes. If this is the case, a sinus lift may be appropriate to add bone where it is most needed to allow for dental implants.

How the Sinus Lift Procedure Works
Sinus Lift Brandon, FL

The Sinus Lift Procedure

The process for a sinus lift is:

Step 1

An X-ray is taken of your jaw to find your bone density and sinus location

Step 2

Gum tissue will be removed from the bone above your back molars

Step 3

A small opening is made in the bone to access the sinus cavity

Step 4

Your sinus membrane is gently moved to make room for additional bone

Step 5

A bone graft is inserted where the sinus was lifted

Step 6

The gums are stitched back in place to heal

Step 7

After being allowed to heal, dental implants can be placed
