What to Expect From Your First Dental Visit
Your visit starts before the date of your dentist appointment. While scheduling a dental appointment with your dentist in Brandon for the first time, you may be asked to gather certain information regarding your medical history. This info is vital to Dr. Cherry to know of any past health issues, whether oral health or overall health.
Some examples of vital information may be any implantable medical devices, past surgical procedures, or chronic medical conditions. This information is essential to know to provide the best care for the patient.
To ensure you receive the treatment you need, one of our friendly team members will oversee the schedules for the dentist and hygienists. You can count on them to assist you with treatment plans and payment options. They will also work with you and your dental insurance providers to maximize your benefits and make the road to a new smile comfortable for you.
During the Dental Visit
While your exact schedule varies on the nature of the visit, a routine check-up will start with placing you in a dental chair. While in the chair, your dental hygienist will ensure you feel comfortable and begin cleaning your teeth.
Deep teeth cleanings help to remove plaque from the surfaces of your teeth that may otherwise cause cavities and tooth decay. In addition, your hygienist will floss in between your teeth to eliminate any plaque your toothbrush could not reach. Following that, we highly recommend getting a fluoride treatment to help strengthen teeth and reduce tooth decay.
The Dentist Arrives
After the hygienist has finished your thorough teeth cleaning, Dr. Cherry is called in to check your overall dental health and the teeth for cavities or other problems. The dentist will examine all teeth surfaces and the gum line to check for any issues.
If there are cavities present, Dr. Cherry may ask if you want them filled during the visit. Suppose there are questionable areas on the surfaces of the teeth. In that case, he may offer a sealant treatment to reinforce the structure.
If there are issues with the gums, Dr. Cherry will make recommendations regarding how best to care for them to prevent periodontal disease. Of course, he will also encourage you to continue to take good care of your teeth and maybe give you a few tips.
This moment is the best time for you to ask any questions you may have. Talk with the dentist about anything that may bother you about your smile.
Many people are not content with their smiles. But you must understand that most people are not born with perfect Hollywood teeth. This is where cosmetic dental services come in.
Dr. Cherry can correct crooked teeth, close gaps, correct stained or discolored teeth, chipped teeth, broken or missing teeth with dental implants, and even “gummy” smiles. You can finally have the healthy smile you have always wanted with cosmetic dentistry. Your goals, concerns, and financial comfort level are considered when we tailor a treatment plan for your smile.
Ask Questions
